Take four amazing voices, add the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra, a good dollop of well chosen hits and a great rhythm section and you get Viva la Diva!, a symphonic pops concert celebrating womanhood in all its many facets. Corvin Matei conducts the sensational songbird Nianell with her truly angelic voice, flamboyant opera star Zanne Stapelberg, guts and glory gospel-jazz star Gloria Bosman and the upcoming, award-winning young jazz sensation Monique Hellenberg in a concert that will linger long after the final notes have faded. Hits such as a James Bond medley, Ebben Ne Andro Lontano? from La Wally by Catalani, Summertime, Who Painted the Moon, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, When I Fall in Love and Moondance will be heard. To hear Nianell’s poignant original hits with a symphony orchestra is a privilege. Gloria Bosman needs no introduction. Her pulsating and uniquely energetic versions of well known material will have the audience dancing in the aisles in no time. Her rendition of Ntyilo-Ntyilo is unequalled. Zanne Stapelberg has graced the opera stage for more than a decade now with her formidable presence, beautiful voice and flamboyant costumes. She is the epitomy of a new generation of opera singers. The foursome concludes with Monique Hellenberg, a bright young star better known for adding her special magic to the Golfdish hit ‘This is How it Goes’ Her rich and creamy voice, combined with a fresh and lovely stage personality is very special indeed.
